The Fund

The RDOS Board has passed the bylaw approving a Conservation Fund for the South Okanagan in the communities of Summerland, Penticton, Oliver, and rural electoral areas A, C, D, E and F.

A Conservation Fund is a dedicated fund held by a regional district or municipality for the specific purpose of undertaking conservation projects. Nature conservation is considered a service, similar to recreation, libraries, waste management, sewer and water.

Several BC regions such as the Central Okanagan, Vancouver Island and East & Central Kootenays have had great success with Conservation Funds.

Our family loves the outdoors. My hope is that others see nature as a treasure beyond compare, something precious and worth caring for.
